Signup and key generation
Create an account with your email address and a password of 12 to 72 bytes in UTF-8. Some characters use more than one byte. Google login, wallet connection and wallet-address entry are not signup steps. The API key appears once immediately after successful registration, before payment. Save it in a secret store before leaving that screen; it is not emailed or redisplayed later.
The account panel is on this key page. An optional 100-credit trial depends on network-wide anti-abuse eligibility and is not guaranteed. Check the available balance before trying the gardening query. Registration and the once-only key display do not require a paid top-up. Your account, key and balance belong to subredditapi.com and cannot be used as shared credentials or credit across the network brands.
Payment methods and verification
For paid credit, sign in and create an invoice before transferring funds. The minimum $50 top-up buys 50000 credits at $1 per 1000 successful retrievals. Paid credits do not expire and there is no subscription. Pay with USDT on TRON TRC20 or USDC ERC20 on Ethereum mainnet, using only the receiving address and exact amount shown on your current invoice.
After sending, paste the actual payment transaction hash and request verification. The server must verify a confirmed genuine transfer matching the invoice before adding credit. The invoice expires after one hour; follow its transfer instructions. No fixed confirmation or crediting time is promised, and invoice expiry is not a Verify-click deadline. Missing provider information may leave the verification pending rather than proving a failed transfer.
Replacing a key and starting a sample
A signed-in user can regenerate the key after confirming their password. The previous key becomes invalid immediately, so update your research client before the next retrieval. Password reset and emailed key delivery are not implemented. Keep the key in server configuration and send X-API-Key or Authorization: Bearer for retrieval. The account session cookie is separate from those API authentication headers.
The widget stores invoice and user IDs per hostname in localStorage for invoice recovery, not the raw key. Try /v1/search?q=soil&subreddit=gardening&limit=3 as a bounded first sample. Every successful retrieval, including empty results, costs one credit. Invalid requests do not debit; upstream failures refund reservations. If a connection fails after a billable server success, another successful attempt costs another credit. Review Documentation before expanding the collection.
